Using an eSIM in Poland
Poland's main mobile networks include Orange Polska, Play, Plus and T-Mobile Polska. Warsaw, Kraków, Gdańsk, Wrocław and the larger regional cities are well covered for maps, tickets and ride apps.
Away from cities it varies. Parts of the Tatra and Bieszczady mountains, the Masurian lakes and forests such as Białowieża can have weaker signal, which matters for hikers and drivers on quiet roads.
Good to know
- Jakdojade is the journey-planner app many Poles use for buses, trams and trains, and it works across many cities with live data.
- PKP Intercity and regional rail operators sell tickets in their apps; Bolt and Uber are used for taxis in the bigger cities.
- BLIK is a widely used local payment method tied to Polish bank apps, so visitors will usually pay by card or phone instead.
Poland eSIM questions
- Will the eSIM work in the Tatra Mountains around Zakopane?
- In Zakopane and the main valleys, generally yes, but high trails and remote passes can lose signal. Download offline maps and check weather and trail information before you set out.
- Is Jakdojade useful if I only have a foreign eSIM?
- Yes. It runs over mobile data and does not need a Polish number, so it works for finding buses, trams and trains in many Polish cities. Check ticket purchase options in the app before relying on them.
- Does a Poland eSIM work on a trip to Prague or Berlin?
- Only if the plan lists those countries. Poland borders several countries and trains cross the border, so check the package coverage if you are crossing.
