Using an eSIM in Cyprus
Cyprus's main mobile networks in the Republic include Cyta, Epic, PrimeTel and Cablenet. Limassol, Larnaca, Paphos, Nicosia and the Ayia Napa and Protaras resorts are well served, and a hire car is a common way to move between them.
The Troodos mountains and the Akamas peninsula have more patchy signal. The northern part of the island is administered separately and uses different mobile networks.
Good to know
- Bolt works in the main cities, and mobile data is useful for maps, taxi bookings and checking intercity bus times.
- In the Troodos villages and on Akamas tracks, signal can disappear. Download offline maps before you drive up.
- If you cross the Green Line into the north, your phone may connect to a Turkish network. Check whether your plan covers it, since coverage can differ.
Cyprus eSIM questions
- Does a Cyprus eSIM work in Northern Cyprus?
- Not necessarily. The north uses different networks, so check that the package details list it before you cross. Your phone may otherwise show a Turkish network that your plan does not cover.
- Will I have signal in the Troodos mountains and at the Akamas beaches?
- In villages and along the main roads, mostly, but in forest valleys and on remote tracks it can drop. Save maps for the drive in advance.
- Do I need data to use taxi apps in Cyprus?
- Bolt works over a data connection in Cyprus. App availability and pickup rules can vary by place, so check the app and your airport's current pickup guidance before relying on it.
